The J2M subsea cable system, which will connect Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to Marseille, France is expected to be operational in early 2023.

Zain Global Connect (ZGC), the wholesale carrier subsidiary of Zain Group which is a leading telecom innovator in seven markets across the Middle East and Africa, will connect the Middle East with Europe through the J2M subsea cable system.
The J2M cable system connects Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to Marseille, France and marks ZGC’s first subsea cable ownership. A part of the Pakistan and East Africa Connecting Europe (PEACE) cable system, the new cable will give Zain full operational independence enabling digital transformation especially for cloud and IoT services in the region.

The cable is expected to be ready for service in early 2023. While Zain Saudi Arabia will be the cable landing party, the international infrastructure diversity will be increased besides giving global carriers and enterprises a new entry point in Saudi Arabia.

The PEACE cable system is a 15,000 km, privately owned cable system with open, flexible, and carrier-neutral services for its customers. It has been designed with 200G transmission and WSS ROADM BU technologies, which provide the capability to transmit over 16 TBPS per fibre pair.
