Vedanta Limited has signed an MoU worth INR 1 lakh crore aimed at boosting Odisha’s industrial sector by establishing aluminium production facilities and advancing sustainable development across the state.

Vedanta Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Odisha to establish aluminium production facilities and advance sustainable development across the state. The deal worth INR 1000 billion was signed by Mr. Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Minister of Odisha, and Mr. Anil Agarwal, Chairman of Vedanta Limited, during the inaugural day of the Utkarsh Odisha—Make in Odisha Conclave 2025.

Mr. Agarwal highlighted the fact that Odisha has been a strategically important aspect of Vedanta’s journey. This MoU marks a major step in driving large-scale industrial growth and socio-economic progress in the state. He said, “We are excited to continue our long-standing collaboration with the Government of Odisha, focusing on sustainable development, skill-building, and improving the quality of life for millions of people.”

According to the MoU, Vedanta Limited will establish a 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) aluminium plant and create an aluminium park, making it an important centre for downstream aluminium product manufacturers.

The partnership aims to enhance Odisha’s strategic position in the global aluminium market and also create 200,000 jobs and promote the growth of MSMEs.
