Vedanta Aluminium, a business unit of Vedanta Limited and leading global producer of aluminium, has delivered its first-ever Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Chain of Custody (CoC)-certified aluminium shipment to Capral Aluminium, Australia’s largest extruder and distributor of aluminium products.

The company shared the information through its social media platform. As per the post on Vedanta’s official LinkedIn page, ““The certification aligns with our broader commitment to fostering sustainable manufacturing practices within the industry. ASI CoC certification supports traceability of materials through a supply chain, helping businesses ensure that every stage of aluminium production adheres to the highest environmental, social, and governance standards, from responsible sourcing of raw materials to responsible manufacturing.”

As per a statement issued by Capral, the ASI CoC certification offers confidence for manufacturers, fabricators, architects and builders that the aluminium they choose meets stringent environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards. It ensures that sustainable practices are upheld at every stage of production, from ethical raw material extraction to energy-efficient smelting and responsible supply chain management.

As one of the world’s leading aluminium producers, Vedanta achieved ASI CoC certification in May 2024, following two years of active engagement to align its sustainability initiatives with ASI’s rigorous standards. This reflects the growing global shift toward more sustainable manufacturing practices. The company was the first in India to receive this certification.

In February, 2025, Capral received the first-ever ASI CoC-certified aluminium shipment from Vedanta Aluminium—marking a global first for Vedanta and reinforcing Capral’s commitment to responsible sourcing.
