Top Cable Companies in India 2018

Top Companies

The Indian wire and cable industry in the last 5 years has grown at around 14-15 percent CAGR and this growth rate is expected to increase to 15-16 percent CAGR in the next 5 years, catapulting the total current market of Rs. 49,000 to Rs. 100,000 Cr in the next five years, a good sign for companies to share a pie in this growth and nudge themselves towards top position.

Top CompaniesAs per Economic Survey 2017-18, India to regain fastest growing major economy tag; GDP to grow 7-7.5% in FY19. This portends well for all the industry sectors, including wire and cable. The Indian power sector has an investment potential of Rs 15 trillion (USD 225 billion) in the next 4–5 years, thereby providing immense opportunities in power generation, distribution, transmission, and equipment. 2018 could be the growth year for the telecom sector where investment of around Rs. 3000 billion (about USD 47 billion) is estimated to be made in next two years. The ‘Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana’, with an outlay of Rs 163.20 billion (USD 2.51 billion) for providing electricity access to over 40 million families in the country by December 2018. ‘Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana’ (DDUGJY) with an estimated outlay of Rs. 430.33 billion (about USD 6.75 billion), including budgetary support of Rs. 334.53 billion (about USD 5.25 billion).

Riding on all these and many other drivers, the Indian wire and cable industry in the last 5 years has grown at around 14-15 percent CAGR and this growth rate is expected to increase to 15-16 percent CAGR in the next 5 years, catapulting the total current market of Rs. 49,000 to Rs. 100,000 Cr in the next five years, a good sign for companies to share a pie in this growth and nudge themselves towards top position.

This is pertinent in this scenario to keep a tab on how notable companies are faring in the race towards top. WCI’s Top Cable Companies in India is a biennial survey of all operating wire and cable manufacturing enterprises of India to come up with a ranking list based on various key parameters. The list is a comprehensive list of India’s largest, most powerful wire and cable companies, as measured by production, turnover, net profit, growth rate (in both turnover & net profit), and net worth. We use a composite score that weighs these five metrics equally, as one barometer alone would present a biased and incomplete account. These five metrics are fundamentally the bedrock of our ranking calculation as these are objective and quantitative in nature.

Our survey and the declared rankings are in no way exhaustive and are just indicator of the overall landscape of the Indian wire and cable industry based on the information furnished by the companies.
