Wire & Cable India: Tell us about your company and your product range?
Pratik Jajodia: Tirupati is a trusted name in India’s timber industry for over 4 decades with 3rd generation of the family currently managing the show. The journey ranges from procuring timber from domestic jungles in 1980s and saw milling to importing timber from across the globe and setting up Southeast Asia’s largest production facility for manufacturing pinewood reels along with plywood reels, pallets, boxes, etc. The strategic location of Gandhidham gives access to two of India’s major sea ports – Kandla and Mundra, thus giving competitive edge for both imports and exports.
WCI: Tell us about your manufacturing capabilities, product development & designing process?
PJ: We have a fully automated manufacturing facility to produce over 30000 pinewood drums per month with diameter ranging from 600mm till 3000mm and design capabilities of up to 10 MT weight carrying capacity whereas conventionally wooden drums are used up to only 2.5MT. Timber is sourced from across the globe which meets our quality specifications and incorporates the weight lifting capabilities of both wooden and steel components in the drum to design it to desired weight carrying capacity while optimizing cost at the same time.
WCI: Quality and environment are important aspects in the manufacturing process. Kindly share the efforts made by your company on this front?
PJ: We have India’s only fully automated wooden drum manufacturing facility which ensures consistency in the product quality. The QA/QC process at 3 levels ensures that customers are getting the right product since it is customized for every requirement. The factory has centralized dust collection systems to ensure pollution is controlled and negligible water usage in system to ensure zero water waste.
WCI: What are the key strengths of your company? In fact, what advantages your products offers for wire & cable manufacturers and installers?
PJ: The wire and cable manufacturing companies had to import quality pinewood drums to meet packaging requirements for their orders wherever high quality drums are required with advance fund planning and high lead time of 2-3 months. Our key strengths are Quality-Quantity-Delivery. We offer our customers product of the highest quality in required quantities with minimum delivery lead time. We also manage inventories for our customers with long term contracts and have observed lead time of less than 24 hours for delivery of material thus saving on inventory carrying cost and cash flow. The whole idea is to give the cable, wire and wire rope companies in India an organized environment to this rather unorganized sector. We are also manufacturing wooden pallets, wooden boxes and plan to foray into steel drums, plywood spools with automated units to become “one stop shop” for all packaging needs of our valued customers.
