Taihan will construct an extra-high-voltage 420kV underground power grid, the highest voltage for underground cables in Sweden, in collaboration with Svenska kraftnät, Sweden’s state-owned power authority.

Taihan has entered into an agreement worth around USD 76.96 million with Svenska kraftnät, Sweden’s state-owned power authority, to construct an extra high-voltage 420kV underground power grid traversing Stockholm, Sweden’s capital.

As per Taihan CEO Jongmin Song, the project, a key initiative by Svenska kraftnät, aims to address the growing power demand in Stockholm. It will connect the northern Anneberg region with the southern Skanstull region through a 420kV high-voltage power grid. Taihan will supply all necessary materials, including 420kV cables and cable accessories, and will carry out connection installation as well as commissioning tests.

The 420kV power grid represents the highest voltage level for underground AC cables in Sweden. Given the high standards required to ensure the grid’s stability and reliability, suppliers underwent a stringent selection process. Taihan’s exceptional technical expertise, product quality, engineering capabilities, and project management proficiency secured its selection for the project.

This award marks another significant achievement for Taihan in 2024, adding a major European project to its growing portfolio. Earlier this year, Taihan recorded new orders worth KRW 730 billion in the U.S. and secured a KRW 840 billion mega project in Singapore, reinforcing its strong presence in the global market.
