Sterlite Plans to Develop Electricity Grid for Green Hydrogen Projects in Egypt

The project, entailing investments ranging between USD 5-6 billion, will leverage Sterlite Power’s latest technologies to enhance efficiency and sustainability in Egypt.

Sterlite, a Mumbai-based leading integrated power transmission developer and solutions provider globally, has expressed interest to develop an electricity grid for green hydrogen projects in Egypt with investments ranging between USD 5-6 billion.

The information was shared by Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib after meeting Mr. Tushar Chhabra, Head of Business Acquisition at Sterlite Power, in India.

El-Khatib revealed that the project would boost Egypt’s energy infrastructure and accelerate its transition toward clean energy.

He said Egypt enjoyed high capabilities in clean energy production, making it a regional energy hub amid increasing global demands for sustainable energy sources.

The cooperation with Indian companies in the renewable energy sector would not only lead to sustainable development, but also open new horizons for investment and create more job opportunities,he added.

Chhabra, on his part, said that Sterlite planned to make long-term investments in strategic projects supporting Egypt’s transformation into a major renewable energy hub. He said the project would leverage Sterlite Power’s latest technologies to enhance efficiency and sustainability in Egypt.
