A host of power companies are set to aggressively bid for Rs. 10,000 crore worth of transmission projects. Those in the fray include L&T, Reliance Infrastructure, Tata Power, Sterlite Grid, Isolux and Gammon, which are pitching for the over half-a-dozen transmission projects. However, private players fear that Power Grid Corporation will play spoilsport by bidding aggressively as in the past when it undercut its closest rival by 30% and average bids by 80%.
The major projects include the Rs. 2,450 crore Srikakulam project, Kudgi (Rs. 2,750 crore), Eastern Region System Strengthening Scheme-6 & 7 (Rs. 1,875 crore), four projects under Northern Region Package (Rs. 1,720 crore), and the Rs. 245 crore Srinagar and Tehri transmission project.
