Reliance Jio Infocomm said it will commercially launch 4G services in 2015, entailing investments of Rs. 70,000 crore.
RIL promoted RJIL holds pan-India broadband wireless access (BWA) spectrum that can be used for 4G services. The company had acquired it through auction for Rs. 12,847.77.
The 4G service will cover all states, around 5,000 towns and cities, accounting for over 90 per cent of urban India and over 215,000 villages.
The licensee will have to ensure that at least half the areas under rural telecom exchanges gets the required street level coverage.
