The tunnel communication system contract has been awarded by IRCON International Limited. The project includes works on the design, supply, testing, and commissioning of the communication system including emergency call and service telephone, CCTV, tunnel radio, and public announcement system.

RailTel Corporation of India Ltd, under the ownership of the Ministry of Railways, has signed a contract worth INR 210.77 crore from Ircon International for installing a tunnel communication system in the Dharam-Banihal section of the Jammu Kashmir Rail Link Project.
The project is scheduled to be completed in a period of 12 months, the company added. The scope of the contract comprises – design, supply, testing, and commissioning of the tunnel communication system, including emergency call and service telephone, CCTV, tunnel radio, and public announcement system in the tunnel environment.

“RaiITel Corporation of India has received work order from Ircon International Limited for design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of tunnel communication system consisting of emergency call and service telephone, CCTV, tunnel radio and PA system in tunnel environment on Dharam-Banihal section of Jammu Kashmir Rail Link Project under Ferozepur division of Northern Railway at a total cost of INR 210.77 crore (inclusive of GST),” the company said.
The contract has been awarded by IRCON International Limited, which is also a PSU under the Ministry of Railways. IRCON is involved in the development of the railway line in the Dharam-Banihal section of the rail link project. The Jammu and Kashmir Rail Link Project – also known as USBRL (Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link) is a 272 km-long railway line.
