In the budget statement for FY 2021-22, PSPCL would utilize the tranche of a budget in buying power for farm consumers. Further, Rs 200 crore would be spent on the release of new connections to the consumers, in the bid to strengthen the transmission and distribution network in the state.

With the goal to provide uninterrupted power supply in Punjab, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) intends to strengthen its transmission and distribution sector with its Rs. 36,767.37 crore budget for the year 2021-22.

In a press release issued, the CMD of the corporation Mr. A Venu Prasad informed that the PSPCL had made budget provisions of Rs. 36,767.37 crore, including Rs. 34,688.68 crore for revenue expenditure and Rs. 2,078.69 crore for capital expenditure.

Elaborating on the said development, Mr. Prasad said that Rs. 23,862.38 crore would be spent on power purchase, including transmission charges. He stated that the tranche would be utilized in buying power for farm consumers and others for the paddy and summer season.

Emphasizing the capital expenditure, the CMD said that a sum of Rs. 1,520.74 crore would be spent on the distribution work for uninterrupted and quality power supply to consumers.

He also added that Rs. 200 crore would be spent on the release of new connections to the consumers while in order to strengthen transmission and distribution network in the state, Rs. 327.80 crore would be spent on sub-transmission work and more than Rs. 747.81 crore would be spent on the normal distribution work.
