The largest-ever submarine cable project in the USA is scheduled to be concluded by 2026 and it will play an integral role in making the Commonwealth of Virginia achieve its goal of being carbon-neutral by 2045. Prysmian Group will provide three 3-core 220kV HVAC export cables and 3-core 66kV offshore inter-array cables.

Prysmian Group, the global leader in the energy and telecom cables market, has secured the largest-ever submarine cable project worth USD 729.07 million in the USA. The contract has been awarded by Dominion Energy Virginia, a subsidiary of Dominion Energy Inc., to a consortium made up of Prysmian and the DEME Group, a leader in the offshore wind industry.
The Balance of Plant (BoP) contract includes the transportation and installation of the foundations and the substations and the EPCI services for the inter-array and export cables. The upcoming large-scale project marks a crucial milestone for Prysmian Group, as this will make it the first cable company in the offshore wind industry to sign a BoP agreement.

The total worth of the project is approximately USD 1.85 billion (EURO 1.6 billion), of which around USD 729.07 million (EURO 630 million) is related to Prysmian for the cable supply and the installation. The contract is scheduled to be concluded by 2026.
The Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) is around 27 miles (43 km) off the coast of Virginia Beach. Prysmian Group will provide three 3-core 220kV HVAC export cables of the length of about 62 km each, with XLPE insulation and single-wire armouring, for around 560 km.
As per the contract, the company will also provide 320 km of 3-core 66kV offshore inter-array cables featuring XLPE insulation. The CVOW project will play an integral role in enabling the Commonwealth of Virginia to achieve its goal of being carbon-neutral by 2045.
