Prysmian Group will relaunch its optical fiber production in Italy and has completed the investment of over EUR 30 million to boost its competitiveness.

Prysmian Group’s optical fiber production in Italy will now focus on the development plans for the new broadband telecommunication networks. Also, the Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi visited the Prysmian plant Fibre Ottiche Sud. It produces approximately 30 million km of optical fiber a year in the 5 plants located in Italy, France, Netherlands, USA, and Brazil. In Italy alone, the production is nearly 9 million km which are bound for strategically important cabling projects across the world.
Being the world leader in the energy and telecom cables and systems industry, the group invested EUR 30 million in centre of excellence at in Battipaglia to boost its competitiveness. It has some of the world’s most advanced production capability, technology and know-how. Boasting a prime leadership position in optical fiber production, this plant in Battipaglia employs around 300 specialized technicians and professionals.
