Power Grid Corporation of India has received approval from its board of directors to form joint ventures
with Odisha Power Transmission and Bihar State Power Holding.
The approval allows PowerGrid to take up Intra State Transmission projects in the Indian states of Bihar and Odisha. The scope of Intra State works is yet to be finalized.
The joint venture companies to be formed are likely to have a debt equity ratio of 80:20 and will have a suitable payment security mechanism.
PowerGrid said it owns and operates about 96,286ckt kilometres of transmission lines at 800/765kV, 400kV, 220kV and 132kV EHVAC, and +500kV HVDC levels and 159 sub-stations.
