As per the agreement, Polycab will be responsible for executing the Package-A of BharatNet covering 3,095 gram panchayats in nine districts in Tamil Nadu.

Polycab India Ltd. has signed a Master Service Agreement (MSA) with Tamil Nadu FibreNet Corporation Ltd. (TANFINET) regarding the implementation of BharatNet Phase-II in Tamil Nadu.
The execution of the project is categorised into four packages and one System Integrator will be assigned for each package along with a Third Party Agency (TPA). Within the agreement, Polycab will be responsible for the BharatNet project in the districts of Package A at a cost of INR 509 crore.

The wire and cable manufacturer will be responsible for the gram panchayats in districts including Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvallur, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Ranipettai, Tirupati, and Chennai.
Polycab would act as the Master System Integrator to provide end-to-end connectivity with high-speed bandwidth using optical fibre cables in 3,095 gram panchayats in 75 blocks across the nine districts of the state.
The agreement was signed in a ceremony held in Chennai in the presence of –Thiru. T. Mano Thangaraj, IT Minister, Tamil Nadu; Neeraj Mittal, IT Secretary, Tamil Nadu; Kamal Kishore A K, MD, TANFINET; and Ashish D. Jain, Executive President & COO, Telecom Division, Polycab India Limited.

The company will be supervising the – site-survey, design, fibre-laying, integration, commissioning, and O&M to enable the gram panchayats in the districts with minimum scalable bandwidth connectivity of 1 GB per second.
This agreement marks the start of yet another chapter in Polycab’s association with the BharatNet project as it has worked as an EPC Project Implementation Agency (PIA) in BharatNet’s phase-II in Bihar and Gujarat.
