Piyu Chem participated at the Cable & Wire Fair 2023 held at Pragati Maidan showcasing various products from Huber Advanced Materials, Dow Chemical Company & Imerys. Huber Advanced Materials
Huber Advanced Materials is part of J.M. Huber Corporation. Huber Advanced Materials offers a very broad portfolio of premium-quality halogen-free fire retardants and smoke suppressants to meet the most stringent requirements in wire, cable and connector applications. In addition, they produce specialty aluminas, organic matting agents and carriers, and thermal management solutions. Huber Advanced Materials operates worldwide. With two modern and fully equipped world-class R&D centers in the US and Germany, they offer customized and tailored technical support to customers around the globe. They have 6 manufacturing plants, out of which 4 are placed in the US (Georgia, Illinois & Arkansas) and 2 in Europe (Germany & Austria).
At their Martinswerk site in Bergheim, Germany, they produce more than 100 specialty products based on aluminum hydroxide and aluminum oxide plus organic matting agents and carriers. At their Breitenau based Austrian site, they manufacture a range of very high quality magnesium hydroxide and oxide powders, and special sodium silicates.
At their 4 plants in the US, they produce fine precipitated aluminum hydroxide, ground ATH and magnesium hydroxide. They also offer phosphorus-based materials and smoke suppressants based on molybdate compounds. Through their distributors Piyu Chem, they have developed the market in India.

Mr. Mario Neuenhaus, Senior Sales Manager FR & Speciality, Huber Advanced Materials, added: “Piyu Chem has been our distributor for more than 25 years already. They started developing the ATH business, the Martinal business in India, and it was tiny in the past. Over the last 10 years, we were growing the business from very small to full container loads, we are now exporting about 600-700 containers to India of fine-precipitated aluminum hydroxide.”
Huber was happy participating at the Cable & Wire Fair 2023 and expressed, “We have highly qualified customers joining us to have technical discussions, to have commercial discussions, and it’s a place for us to be. Continue like that, continue some improvement. I think the fairground has improved a lot for last couple of years, the quality of the booth, number of the exhibitors is increasing from year to year.”
As a supplier of high-quality flame retardants, Huber recommended the industry to rely on good quality material for products. “The cable typically has to last for 30-40 years, and if you do not rely on high-quality material, probably the cable fails after 5 years only.”

Today, Imerys offers local and imported grades with more than 10 products for this industry. Imerys owns the mines across the globe which helps to control the quality and provide the customised solutions as per requirement of customers. Most of the grades are based out of the US, UK, Malaysia, Vietnam & India. Imerys, already leading this segment in quality and value proposition is expanding its portfolio with grades that are based out of India. Piyu Chem would offer those new grades to Indian customers very soon in 2024.
