Orange, PCCW Global and PEACE Cable Announce the landing of Submarine Cable in Marseille

The PEACE subsea cable has a “system within a system” configuration giving each party the needed flexibility to design its own subsystem with reconfigurable bandwidth for different points over the lifetime of the cable.

The new PEACE (Pakistan & East Africa Connecting Europe) submarine cable has landed on the shores of Marseille, a city in France. Orange, the leading telecom operator in France, serving as the landing party for the subsea cable in France, has successfully completed the landing of the PEACE system in Marseille. The company will supply and operate the cable landing station.

Furthermore, the telecom will be in charge of extending the PEACE cable system to one of Marseille’s major data centres where the submarine line terminal equipment is positioned.

Jean-Luc Vuillemin, executive vice president of International Networks at Orange, remarked, “We are glad to have successfully completed this operation with our affiliate Orange Marine today who managed the shore-end landing.”

Once it begins operation, PEACE will provide a direct, efficient and high-capacity route from Asia and East Africa to Europe. Also, the cable system has a state-of-the-art “system within a system” configuration giving each party the needed flexibility to design its own subsystem with reconfigurable bandwidth for different points over the lifetime of the cable.
