NKT has introduced a new integrated cable monitoring solution to enhance the safety and reliability of onshore and offshore power cables. The platform uses multiple sensors and technologies to detect and mitigate threats, including fishing accidents and intentional damage.

It provides real-time monitoring by gathering data from vessel locations, acoustic sensors, burial depth measurements, and conductor temperature readings. The system issues alerts when potential threats are detected and suggests appropriate remedial actions.
Additionally, it offers detailed insights into cable performance, documentation from marine surveys, spare part status, and notifications for replacements.
Stefan Persson, Director of cable monitoring solutions, service and installation at NKT, said that the new cable monitoring platform is a significant technological advancement ensuring reliability and safety of power cables. It is crucial for proactive monitoring, maintaining up-time and preventing damages.
