NKT has entered a preferred supplier agreement (PSA) as main contractor for delivery and installation of high-voltage DC on- and offshore export cable systems to the Dogger Bank offshore Wind Farms Creyke Beck A/B.
The conditional order concerns the Dogger Bank Creyke Beck A&B projects, each of 1.2 GW capacity, developed by a 50/50 joint venture between UK utility SSE plc and Norway’s Equinor ASA.
NKT is in line to manufacture and supply 4×175 km of 320-kV direct current (DC) offshore export power cables and 4×32 km of 320-kV DC onshore export power cables, the company announced after the results of the CfD allocation round were announced.
The contract is valued at around EUR 360 million (USD 395.4m) in market prices. Upon confirmation of the order, NKT will manufacture the power cables in Karlskrona, Sweden, starting the production in 2020. Installation is planned to start at the end of 2021.
SSE and Equinor confirmed their three Dogger Bank projects totaling 3.6 GW were among 12 offshore wind projects to be awarded CfDs in the UK allocation round.
