Nigeria targets 10,000 MW transmission capacity by 2017

Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) assured total overhaul of the company to improve electricity distribution operations in the country, as the company targets 10,000 megawatts by 2017.

The company is working towards achieving 10,000 megawatts (MW) wheeling capacity by 2017, while planning to hit 20,000 MW by 2020.

The company is working towards completing over 160 ongoing projects within the country to serve the electricity consumers effectively.

The country had about 5,000 installed capacity while about 4,100 megawatts was being distributed, adding that the transmission had the capacity to generate 7,000 megawatts wheeling capacity.
