Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar addressed the Parliamentary Consultative Committee, comprising Members of Parliament for the Ministry of Power. During the meeting, he announced that India plans to add approximately 1.91 lakh circuit kilometers (ckm) of transmission lines and 1,274 GVA of transformation capacity by 2032.

The minister emphasized that power remains a significant component in achieving the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. He highlighted that the National Electricity Plan (NEP) outlines the comprehensive transmission system expansion required from 2023 to 2032.
Discussions during the meeting also covered advancements in transmission technologies and concerns about cybersecurity. Members of Parliament provided several suggestions concerning various initiatives and schemes, while also commending the efforts of the Ministry of Power in expanding the transmission network.

In response, Minister Manohar Lal instructed officials to consider and incorporate the suggestions made by them and prioritize initiatives that enhance public welfare and ensure reliable power supply across the country.
