Expansion in fiber optic cable and telecommunication sector as a whole, Myanmar will witness better infrastructure and technological advancements.

As per the Ministry of Transport and Communication, Myanmar has expanded its fiber optic cable to 31,000 km this year. Soon the people will be able to facilitate from the SEA-ME-WE 5 and AAE1 cables. As per the sources, the number of telecommunication towers in Myanmar has reached over 11,700 in 2016. Also, the international bandwidth reached to 200 Gbps which is seven times the country’s capacity in 2013.
In addition to this, the fiscal year 2015-16 will see a new inland fiber optic link from Tachilek to Thailand. Before telecom companies increased mobile penetration up to 43.72 million people, Myanmar was home to 460,000 land line numbers and nearly 5.3 million SIM cards. Due to weak infrastructure, Myanmar faced difficulties in almost every sector but now the ICT sector has enhanced a lot since 2012.
