Wire & Cable India: Kindly brief us about your business journey and product portfolio.
Dev Bengani: Fine Products Pvt. Ltd., established in 1994 under the guidance of Mr. Ajeeth Bengani (Managing Director), is into manufacturing PVC compounds and has its works at Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. As the name suggests, it believes in transparency at all levels of its operations and ensures they are carried out in a very controlled manner. A young aspiring company, just 26 years as of now, certified by DNV to the prestigious ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, sees many more years of dedicated hard work to prosper and grow. The journey started with developing PVC compounds required for general purpose in cables, be it sheathing and insulation grade for power/flexible or flat cable, shoe as well as auto sector.
Gradually, it ventured into the high-tech compounds required for cables, developing them for varied conditions such as low temperature (suitable for -55 degrees), heat resistance (suitable for temperature ranging 85-125 degrees), flame retardant with low smoke emersion, UV and oil resistant & UL grade.
Lately, with the development of REACH and ROHS compliant compounds, it certainly has made a big leap into the industry for specialised segments and has shown a relative concern towards the environment by going green in compounds as well.
“With its high technologically advanced machinery used for production and a very well-equipped testing laboratory, compounds at Fine Products undergo a very strict quality control check at every stage of production”
With its high technologically advanced machinery used for production and a very well-equipped testing laboratory, compounds at Fine Products undergo a very strict quality control check at every stage of production from the very beginning i.e., raw material, in-process, or the finished lot at the end. Complete traceability of the process is ensured at every stage to develop high-standard products with adequate finesse. A compound can be traced to its very first form of raw material and each lot upon completion is given a unique identification number which helps us to trace its very existence. Being certified by DNV to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standards very well encourages us to maintain this decorum of quality and social responsibility.
WCI: What proportion of your product range is dedicated to the wire and cable segment? Tell us some of the products along with their USPs.
DB: The proportion can’t be defined here, rather it depends upon the usage. Though the major chunk will always go to metal i.e. copper or aluminium; but to make any cable complete and safe to use, the coating of PVC/XLPE has to be there. However, the coating of whether PVC or XLPE depends on their application. Railways require PVC compound with a high IR value and we comply with it to the fullest making it one of our USPs. FRLS was launched after thorough testing from government agencies like ERDA/CPRI. RoHS and REACH compliance was found adequate after getting our samples tested from SGS Lab. A complete examination from a government-certified lab is the only benchmark for us to launch any new, critical grade.
WCI: Outline the new product developments in your company.
DB: Development is an ongoing process. Lately, we pioneered in adding REACH as well as RoHS compliant compounds to our bucket list. This, in addition to getting certified by DNV to ISO 14001: 2015, has empowered our focus towards a healthy green environment which should be in the interest of all.
“Cable plays a vital role and likewise does compounds in their formation; they both go hand in hand.”
WCI: Tell us the current market presence and expansion plans – both domestically and internationally.
DB: Currently, we are catering to domestic users only, and going global is very well in our near-term growth plan. The development of REACH compliant compounds and getting certified to ISO 14001:2015 certainly will add as a booster to this objective. Maximum countries worldwide are adopting the green culture and we are also completely focussed on inculcating this habit in our operations.

WCI: How do you view the wire & cable industry and the market potential of cable compounds? What are the recent trends?
DB: Cable compounds have always been there from the time wire has evolved and has progressed drastically in a very innovative manner. The green compound, in the beginning, looked like a fancy start but gradually has become the need of today’s world. In every development, be it power, infrastructure, housing, transportation, and many more, cable plays a vital role and likewise do compounds in their formation; they both go hand in hand. For the betterment of society, the need for cables is changing every day and so is of compounds and this shall keep going forever, it’s an ongoing process.
