Elecrama 2018: A Concourse of Entire Electrical Fraternity

Not only Elecrama 2018 attracted an almost complete spectrum of electrical industry as usual, but also became the biggest edition in the chapter of ELECRAMA.

8 elecrama 1Organized by IEEMA, the 13th edition of ELECRAMA ensured the best infrastructure and facilities for the exhibitors and visitors. The icing on the cake was the presence of Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Venkaiah Naidu who inaugurated the 13th edition of ELECRAMA at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida held from March 10-14, 2018.

8 elecrama 2Speaking during the inauguration, the Vice President of India Shri Naidu in his opening speech said the government should support manufacturers of electrical and electronics equipment and protect the industry from cheap imports. “At the same time, industry leaders must embrace digital technologies and come up with futuristic solutions to meet India’s growing need for sustainable power. The industry must align itself with the government’s vision of LPG liberalization, privatization, globalization – and brace up for global markets.”

He added, “With path-breaking economic reforms and an annual GDP growth rate of about 7.2 percent, India is poised to become the third largest economy worldwide in the next 15 years. The electrical, industrial electronics and allied equipment industry must invest in research and development of storage systems so that electricity can reach all households,” Naidu reiterated.

He seemed pleased that this industry alone provides direct employment to five lakh people and indirect employment to 10 lakh people.

Considering that the government plans to put six to seven million electric vehicles on Indian roads by 2020 to reduce carbon emissions, the Vice President said this calls for innovative solutions to harness solar power for environment protection and sustainable development.

8 elecrama 3The platform of ELECRAMA helps to reach out to millions. The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Suresh Prabhu, in his address, also called for adopting new technologies to improve energy efficiencies.

“The Indian electrical and electronics industry has the skills and the capacity to even explore global markets. As a global event showcasing integrated solutions to complex energy problems, it is also a leading business networking, knowledge and thought leadership platform for the industry,” he added.

Also present on the occasion was Shri Satish Mahana, Minister of Industrial Development, Uttar Pradesh.

8 elecrama 4Mr Shreegopal Kabra, President, IEEMA, said the association’s membership contributes for a combined turnover of over $42 billion. He said the electrical equipment industry hopes to export goods worth $35 billion by 2022, up from $6 billion at present. The five-day ELECRAMA 2018 expects to see more than 2.5 lakh footfalls.

8 elecrama 5Mr Vijay Karia, Chairman, ELECRAMA, said the industry is aligned with government initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and ’24 x 7 Power to All’ by 2022. He said ELECRAMA is a platform for knowledge-sharing and Indian manufacturers can learn from their counterparts in developed countries. ELECRAMA is now focusing on the paradigm shift from the earlier T&D in electricity space to electric vehicles, Internet of Things (IoT), storage solutions and renewable energy.

ELECRAMA Start Up Awards

ELECRAMA STARTUP AWARDS went to Artem. Artem aims to build the world’s safest two-wheeler that will make use of technologies such as Computer Vision and AI to provide ADAS. The vehicle will feature Collision Avoidance System and 360 Degree Presence amongst other systems.

eTechNxt

8 elecrama 6eTechNxt as a concept was introduced for the first time at ELECRAMA. The purpose of eTechNxt was to showcase new technologies which are going to impact the electricity and power sector in a big way. These technologies are already brewing up and going to be the next big thing.

There were four major tracks at eTechNxt: digital delivery of power, industrial internet of things (IoT), energy storage and electric vehicles. Various stakeholders demonstrated what they have in these areas, and engage with users and influencers to explore the demand and what are those demand drivers.

Apart from that, there were various start-ups showcasing some of these upcoming technologies. There was an experience zone where technologies were displayed through virtual reality so that they can be touched and felt through various new experiential tools.

World Utility Summit

8 elecrama 7World Utility Summit 2018 witnessed some of the finest talks and discussions from national and international speakers explain how smart generation can be done consistently for decades to come.

The definition of utilities has changed. For those not in the know, it now comes to mean ensuring security of food, water and electricity. The government and large industries are constantly confabulating to assure these needs to citizens. In view of this changing landscape, the second World Utility Summit 2018 (WUS 2018) kick-started during ELECRAMA 2018 in Greater Noida, with an aim to re-define utilities. The theme of WUS was “Utilities of Utilities”, featured intense deliberations over electricity, food and water security; regulatory framework; and the challenge of keeping abreast with technologies. WUS 2018 was spread over three days from March 11-13. The idea was to bring personnel from electricity, water and gas utilities to discuss with Industries, Consultants, Service Providers, Researchers and Regulators the ways to develop optimal solutions, technology & products, in order to enhance their performance.

Over 300 delegates were present at the inaugural session presided over by Mr Arvind Singh, Principal Secretary (Energy) at the Maharashtra government. Also present at the summit were Mr Shreegopal Kabra, President of Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA); Mr Vijay Karia, Chairman of ELECRAMA 2018; Mr Vikram Gandotra, Convenor of World Utility Summit 2018; Mr Saifur Rahman, President of US-based IEEE Power and Energy Society; Mr Jasper Wieck, Head of the Department for Economic and Global Affairs at German Embassy in New Delhi; and Mr R. Nagaraja, Chair of World Utility Summit 2018.
