CMI & PEACE Cable Sign MoU to Invest in the African Digital Landscape

China Mobile International (CMI) and PEACE Cable International Network Co., Limited (PEACE Cable) have signed a MoU to reshape the digital landscape of the African region.

China Mobile International (CMI) and PEACE Cable International Network Co., Limited (PEACE Cable) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to reshape the digital landscape on the opening day of ITW Africa, one of the most significant carrier events in the region on September 12, 2023, in Nairobi, Kenya.

CMI and PEACE Cable have pledged to augment collaboration on connectivity expansion, optimizing connectivity resources, and advancing resource allocation in the region. A particular focus will be placed on bolstering the capacity of CMI’s submarine cable network in Africa. This collaboration between CMI and PEACE is poised to usher in a transformative era of digital revolution, highlighting the unwavering commitment of both companies to fostering global connectivity.

CMI has invested heavily in the African region to connect carriers to a reliable, scalable, and resilient network via its extensive global infrastructure. This includes over 80 cable resources and over 230 PoPs, with an international transmission bandwidth of over 128T. CMI strives to create a partner ecosystem with regional and global carrier partners. This collaboration will serve as a catalyst for the development of a vibrant internet ecosystem, particularly benefiting underserved communities across Africa.

PEACE Cable operates a submarine cable system spanning over 25,000 km, offering open, flexible, and carrier-neutral services to its customers. Since 2022, PEACE Cable has been providing capacity services in Africa and has become a significant international connectivity provider between Africa and the world.
