During the meeting, a request was made for approval of pilot projects to connect the island to the submarine cable, with a detailed proposal to be submitted in due course. Additionally, a proposal was presented for the installation of a solar floating plant on the island.

The Central government wants to reduce dependence on fossil fuel in Lakshadweep. As a result, a meeting was held in the UT that proposed measures to increase the share of renewable energy in the Union Territory.
The meeting was attended by the administrator of Lakshadweep, senior officials from the UT administration, officials from the Central government and Power Finance Corporation (PFC). Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was also present during the meeting.

He emphasized on the reduced cost of electricity generation during the meeting. Further he proposed the increasing use of EV and to have solar-based EV charging stations in the region. He explored the possibilities of pilot projects in order to work towards the green energy transition in Lakshadweep. He asked the UT to work towards this goal.
During the meeting, the administrator of Lakshadweep, Mr. Praful Patel, requested for the approval of projects connecting the island to the submarine cable for which the detailed proposal will be submitted in the due course. He highlighted the necessity of the project for the quality supply of power across the island.

The Minister also reviewed the performance of local electricity department demand and supply balance of power under the government flagship scheme of PM Surya Ghar Yojana and proposed a solar floating plant in the area.
