According to a report published by Technavio, the electric wire and cable market in India is expected to grow by USD 1.65 billion, at a CAGR of almost 4 percent during 2021-2025. While the pandemic had a severe impact on the market, the industry gradually recovered with the resumption of manufacturing activities.
The wire and cable market is expected to be driven by various factors such as the ‘Saubhagya’ scheme introduced for rural electrification, the growth in renewable energy due to climate change commitments at COP26 and the rollout of 5G and 6G technology. Apart from expansion and revamping of transmission and distribution infrastructure in India, the government is also planning to invest significantly in railways, roadways, highways and metro projects. It has announced its plans to operationalise 100 airports, under UDAN scheme and kick off bullet train projects in 2022-23.
Another initiative of the government, ‘Make in India’ offers domestic and foreign manufacturers policy and fiscal incentives to manufacture locally. Under this initiative, many mobile and electrical appliance companies are looking to make India a hub for manufacturing and innovation. Meanwhile, the electric vehicle industry in India is picking pace which calls for new manufacturing facilities, and improved charging infrastructure. Real estate players are gearing up for developing projects with the dipping home loan rates. All these interesting developments are expected to give the much-required boost to the wire and cable market where Industry 4.0 would play the role of catalyst.
With the exponential growth of India as a highly attractive market for wires and cables, the companies need to focus on networking besides branding. Cable & Wire Fair 2022 is all geared up to provide the actual environment for it by making real business happen. Also, the two days conference at CWF 2022 is expected to witness high-voltage discussions of issues pertaining to the wire and cable industry.
Cable & Wire Fair 2019, the previous edition of Cable & Wire Fair, saw 200 exhibitors and representation from around 25 countries. It had a spectacular success in providing the participating wire and cable companies with a platform for advertising and networking. Shri Suresh Prabhu, India’s Sherpa to the G7 and G20 inaugurated Cable & Wire Fair 2019 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Shri Prabhu has held various ministerial posts in the Government of India, which are closely associated with the wire and cable industry.
