Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) seeks a USD 15 billion fund from the power division to implement several power projects and evacuation system. According to the BPDB it is set to produce 15,000 MW electricity by 2015. It also needs to install a 4,926 kilometer transmission line to evacuate the power.Taking a long view of the scenario of a fast-growing demand of power and scanty supply, the government also conceived a mega Power System Master Plan (PSMP) for producing about 20,500 MW additional electricity in 20 years from 2011 to 2025 by setting up 30 more new plants. The country would need 9,000 MW of electricity by 2014 and if it could successfully complete the installation work of the proposed 7000 MW power plants, then the gap between the generation and supply would stand at 1,500 MW per day. Recently the government also announced that it would take an initiative to achieve zero loadshedding target within next two years.
