Nirmal Singh: It is no exaggeration to say that technology rules the world. The very utterance of wire machinery will ship you to the terrain of Assomac Group. Nowhere is the art of machine making well recognized. The ISO 9001: 2015 certified conglomerate is a trusted name in the domestic and international market, dominant for over 50 years now. A leader in its industry orbit, the Ghaziabad (India) based Assomac Group has been honored with the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) awards by the Ministry of Commerce for the last 18 consecutive years, which speaks volumes about our prominence in the market.

During the last five decades, Assomac has come up in a big way by improving the manufacturing capabilities and infrastructure set-up. We are continuously involved in research and development for developing novel and innovative products in the wire machine industry. Our founder, Late Shri Raj Kumar Tyagi, always believed that the best way to improve your quality is to consider yourself as your own competitor. Today, Assomac Group has state-of-the-art infrastructure, equipped with modern technological strength right from casting foundry, to machining, inspection, and assembly. We have the distinction of having fully integrated plant facilities right from induction castings of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and their alloys, steel fabrication, stress relieving, and shot blast cleaning.

NS: Assomac is the only machinery manufacturer to have a high velocity (HVOF) thermal spray coating plant in-house for its wire drawing drums/rolls/cone rings and other equipment for T.C. and ceramic coating which has helped immensely in giving a very long life to the components besides giving a smooth finish of wire to our customers. The plant was purchased from Sulzer Metco, Switzerland with ABB Robot in the year 2012. We are also incorporating the latest electronic drive system and PLC with in-house design and commissioning capabilities which have provided us with reliable timely solutions. Online remote monitoring, servicing, and commissioning are now regular features. We also have vision-wide Taiwan and Daewoo Doosan and a CNC turn-mill recently imported from South Korea. Besides this, we have a large 4 x 2.5 x 2.5 meter CNC boring machine from Daewoo Doosan, Korea producing quality equipment. The company is spread over approximately 18 acres of land in a lush green landscape with more than 3 lac sq. ft. of covered area. The plant is handled by a team of experts backed by highly qualified engineers to ensure the production of superlative machines.

WCI: Please give insights about the industry’s current trends and future growth prospects. Going by these trends, what can we expect from Assomac in the coming years?

NS: Assomac worked way ahead of time and entered at the right time in the export arena. With the globalization of the markets and shrinking of economic boundary exports taking center stage now, we started concentrating on the foreign land and hence never had a recession time. We are part of the coherent strength of India which is iron and steel and is regarded as a core sector. India is amongst the top ten largest steel-producing countries in the world now. In India, we have the most modern facility for manufacturing wire rods and this has helped Assomac play in a wide field of wire industry. The CAGR of wire demand in India in various segments, such as auto is 9 percent, infra and construction is 10 percent, power is 6 percent, general engineering is 6 percent, and other retail segments is 5 percent. This CAGR is going to further increase in the next 4 to 5 years and Assomac has a vital role to play in this growth and success story of the country in the given segments.
