Leading manufacturers of cables in India, Asian Cables, a division of KEC International, has announced plans to establish a new plant dedicated to manufacturing aluminum conductors.
As per a statement issued by the company, formerly known as RPG Cables, the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for the new plant was conducted on February 23, 2024 in the presence of Upendra Pande, Managing Director of Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited (GETCO) and Vimal Kejriwal, Managing Director of Asian Cables.
The statement said the ceremony not only symbolized the inauguration of Asian Cables’ latest venture, but also underscored the company’s commitment to innovation, growth, and contributing to India’s economic success story.

The increasing demand for electricity supply, driven by extensive construction projects and government investments in industrial expansion, has been a driving force behind the growth of electrical conductors market in India. With forecasts indicating that India’s GDP could surpass USD 5 trillion within the next four years, the significance of initiatives like ‘Make in India’ in fuelling construction projects and the manufacturing sector cannot be overstated, it added.
The company said it was excited to embark on this new chapter and was sure of the opportunities ahead. The new aluminum conductor plant not only aligned with the nation’s vision of self-reliance but also positioned Asian Cables to meet the growing demand for uninterrupted power supply. Asian Cables would continue to build a brighter, more electrifying future for India, it added.
