ABB AB, Kabeldon, (situated in Alingsås, in the South West of Sweden) is involved in the design, manufacture, supply, training, and installation of XLPE cable accessories from 1kV to 400kV.
The company has been developing and manufacturing cable accessories for about 100 years. It originated as part of Sieverts Kabelverk in 1888 as a manufacturer of paper insulated cable accessories. The Kabeldon product range still includes both straight and transition joints for MV XLPE and PILC cables.
When HV XLPE-insulated cables began to be used over 50 years ago, Kabeldon were involved from the outset and has since then been in the forefront of developments. The company became 100% owned by Asea Kabel in mid 1980s and subsequently part of ABB after the merger of Asea and Brown Boveri in 1988.
The company provides solutions and not products alone. Hence, close interaction with the customers in order to provide the best product for the best results. This is proven by the fact that ABB AB, Kabeldon, – active in India since 1982 has had no product failure in service in neither the transmission nor the distribution networks in India. Kabeldon product range is today specializing in LV switchgear systems & distribution boards and has a complete portfolio for cable accessories AC 1 – 420 kV and DC 1 – 320 kV.
