Solar Impulse started this epic journey from Abu Dhabi and touched Asia, Japan, Hawaii, the United States and North Africa, has successfully landed back in Abu Dhabi. This special solar plane has completed this first flight round-the-world using only the power from the Sun. The pilots Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg said, “It is more of a success in aviation history: Solar Impulse made history in the field of energy.”

This clean-energy transport has created a milestone as it completed 40,000 km trip covering around four continents in 500 flight hours. The wingspan of the plane is 71.9m, slightly less than that of an Airbus 747, with a weight of just a little more than an average car. Solar Impulse 2 has 4 engines powered by 17,000 solar cells that send the collected energy to the batteries.
