10th Anniversary of PSG – Lapp partnership marks the launch of Lapp Innovation award to encourage innovation and support ‘Make in India’ program
Lapp India signs extension of MOU and inaugurates the new Centre of Excellence in Cable Technology with PSG College of Engineering
Lapp India, a 100 percent subsidiary of the Lapp Group Germany, a leading supplier of integrated solutions and branded products in the field of cable and connection technology in India today launched the ‘Lapp Innovation Award’. Announced on the 10th Jubilee of LAPP – PSG Coll ‘Lapp Innovation Award’ recognizes outstanding industries that are using Lapp cables and its associated products for high innovation that has an impact on sales, productivity improvement, energy saving and contribution to the environment through energy saving thereby fostering opportunities for new product development for the Lapp Group.
Lapp India and PSG College of Technology signed the extension of 10 years partnership and inaugurated the PSG – Lapp Centre for Excellence in Cable Technology as part of Industry – Academia connect initiative of Lapp India. The centre is equipped with Lapp products demonstration kits, display panels, training kits and various types of tools used for cutting, crimping, stripping cables and assembling cable accessories. This unique centre serves as a link between industry and institution in offering solutions to the industry related to design, selection and applications of cable, connectors and routing for industries like automation, textile, automotive, machine tools, oil and gas, renewable energy, process industries, as well as in the infrastructure and building sectors.
Announcing the ‘Lapp Innovation Award’, Mr. Andreas Lapp, Chairman of the Board LAPP HOLDING AG and Honorary Consul of the Republic of India for Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Pfalz said, “Continuing our commitment to the ‘Make in India’ program, we strongly believe the Lapp Innovation award will seed an opportunity for the industries to expand their research capabilities, develop innovative solutions and have a greater impact on the sustainable growth of the Indian economy. Hence, the 2015 Lapp Innovation Award is one such initiative of Lapp on the lines of ‘Make in India’ program. He added, “LAPP is synonymous to Innovation and we believe in developing innovative cable technologies for the benefit of sustainable development of Indian industry. The Lapp Innovation award will foster Lapp’s association with Indian industry in the field of research and development through an active partnership with PSG College of Engineering”
Speaking on the PSG – Lapp Centre for Excellence and the Innovators Award, Dr. R. Rudramoorthy, Principal, PSG College of Technology said, “We are delighted to continue our partnership with LAPP India through the Centre for Excellence. Our students have benefited enormously by working on various cable technologies at the centre through hands on experience and through internships at Lapp worldwide. Additionally, the Lapp Innovation Award will give our students an added exposure to the industry and give them an opportunity to become employable by integrating their curriculum with the needs of the industry.
Lapp India is inviting nominations from industries, which have used Lapp cables and its associated products in creating new innovative products. The industries for the award includes but are not limited to automation, textile, automotive, machine tools, oil and gas, renewable energy , process industries, as well as in the infrastructure and building sectors.
The competing industries will have to submit a project or business case study that will be judged based on impact on sales, no. of Lapp products used, complexity of application and overall impact on business like contribution to energy saving or environment. Out of all the submitted projects/ case studies the Top 3 entries will be invited to present their case to a panel of jury at the PSG – Lapp Centre for Excellence in Cable technology at Coimbatore, TN. The best innovators will be awarded certificates and prize money as follows:
Platinum – Rs. 300 000/-
Gold – Rs. 200 000/-
Silver – Rs. 100 000/-
