March 2, 2015

Chhattisgarh government had been working on a plan to increase the power transmission capacity in the state that had been on fast track to emerge as power-hub of the country.

“The state government had set a target to increase the transmission capacity from 4900 MVA (Mega Volt Ampere) to 7800 MVA,” Governor Balramji Das Tandon said while addressing members of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly on the first day of Budget session. The state government is successfully working on the plan to make Chhattisgarh the power hub of the country, he added.

“In the series of opening new power station (for which capacity of transmission lines would be crucial), the work on second unit of Madwa power project of the state government was in progress,” Tandon said. The crop production in the state had also registered records with the availability of electricity in the rural areas, he added.
