Bharti Airtel Lands 2Africa Pearls Subsea Cable in India​

Bharti Airtel has successfully landed the 2Africa Pearls subsea cable in India, a segment of the 45,000-kilometer 2Africa cable system, which will be the world’s longest subsea cable network upon completion.

Bharti Airtel has successfully landed the 2Africa Pearls subsea cable in India, enhancing the nation’s digital connectivity by linking it to Africa and Europe via the Middle East. As the official landing partner for 2Africa Pearls in India, Airtel collaborated with Meta and STC to bring this high-capacity cable system to the region. The system adds over 100Tbps (terabits per second) of international capacity, bolstering India’s digital infrastructure.​

Sharat Sinha, Director & CEO of Airtel Business, emphasized that the SEA-ME-WE 6 cable has been landed in Chennai and Mumbai, and the company will continue investing in global cable systems to ensure high uptime and superior connectivity for customers.​

The 2Africa Pearls is a part of 2Africa cable system which is a 45,000 kilometer cable system that is set to become the world’s longest subsea cable system upon completion. The project is backed by major global players, including Vodafone, China Mobile International, Orange, Telecom Egypt, and WIOCC.
