Egypt’s USD 39.7 Million Elsewedy Telecom Cables Inaugurated as ME’s Largest Telecom Cable Facility 

Spread in an area of 70,000 square meters in the Tenth of Ramadan City, the state-of-the-art facility of Elsewedy Telecom Cables has a production capacity of 4 million kilometers of fiber optic cables and 200,000 kilometers of copper communication cables.

Elsewedy Telecom Cables, a subsidiary of Elsewedy Electric and manufacturer & supplier of end-to-end telecom infrastructure solutions catering to various needs and applications, has opened the largest telecom cable facility of the Middle East worth USD 39.7 million (EGP 2 billion).

As per the company, the new facility was inaugurated by Mr. Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry & Transport in Egypt at Elsewedy Industrial Development’s Industrial zone in the Tenth of Ramadan City.

Spread in an area of 70,000 square meters, the state-of-the-art facility specializes in the production of fiber optic cables, copper communication cables and telecommunications infrastructure accessories.

The cutting-edge plant has a production capacity of 4 million kilometers of fiber optic cables and 200,000 kilometers of copper communication cables, including network cables, telephone cables, coaxial cables and accessories for both copper and fiber-optic networks, in addition to communication racks and cabinets. 

Designed as a comprehensive hub for telecom infrastructure in the region, the plant would set new standards in innovation and excellence with its advanced equipment and capabilities. It is expected to create 1,000 jobs in its first phase.

The facility would earmark 50 percent of its production for export, including to Europe, Africa, and Gulf countries. The plant, which would utilize 49.5 percent local components for production, would be certified by the Egyptian Accreditation Council, thus facilitating the export of its products, said Mr. Wazir.

The significant milestone marked a new chapter in the growth and development of the telecom sector in the region.
