As per media reports, the companies have qualified for the opening of initial price bids for an ISTS-TBCB scheme known as Eastern Region Generation Scheme (ERGS)-I.

Taking shape in Odisha, the project worth INR 413 crore (estimated by National Committee on Transmission), is scheduled for completion in May 2027. It has been incorporated under Angul Sundargarh Transmission Limited, currently a wholly-owned subsidiary of bid process coordinator PFC Consulting Limited.

The project will involve setting up the LILO (loop-in, loop-out) of both circuits of the existing 765kV 2x single-circuit lines at the Talabira generation switchyard of NLC India Limited. The loop-in and loop-out will each run around 25 km.

The ERGS-I scheme could potentially strengthen the presence of Tata Power in Odisha. The company currently has a portfolio of three greenfield ISTS-TBCB schemes of which two, including the Paradeep Transmission Limited and the ERES-XXXIX Power Transmission Limited, are located in Odisha. The leading private utility of the country also manages power distribution in the entire state of Odisha, under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
