NLC India Invests INR 50,000 Crore with Aim to Threefold Power Generation Capacity by 2030

NLCIL aims to increase its renewable energy capacity from 1.43 GW to 10.11 GW by 2030,  entailing an investment of approximately INR 50,000 crore.

In order to support the country’s renewable energy target and contribute to the broader aim of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2070, the NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has decided to increase its total power generation capacity by threefold by the end of this decade, while targeting a significant rise in its renewable energy (RE) capacity from current 1.43 GW to 10.11 GW in the same period.

A release issued by the Ministry of Coal said the above plan, entailing an investment of approximately INR 50,000 crore in renewable portfolio, would address the dual requirements of energy security and sustainability in the country.

It said the enhanced target aligned with the Government’s “Panchamrit” initiative announced at the COP 26 Summit of achieving 500 GW non-fossil energy capacity by 2030.
