Domeks Makine Launches Three Revolutionary Machines

Turkey-based Domeks Makine, which has established quite a niche for itself in the wire and cable industry by producing high-speed and international quality coiling and reel packaging lines for all plant cables, has come up with three revolutionary and sustainable machines- a spooler, a coiler and a compounder. This was revealed by Mr. Ömer Yilmaz, Assistant Director General, Domeks Makine A.S., during his interaction with Wire & Cable India magazine.

Wire & Cable India: Kindly tell us about Domeks Makine.

Ömer Yilmaz: We are a Turkey-based company, which has been successfully producing high speed and international quality standards of coiling and reel packaging lines of all plant cables since 2002. With the multi-optional product family, we have access to quality, technology and productivity expectations. The essential requirement of a structure equipped against production stresses is the anti-stress capabilities of production lines.

At Domeks, we create all cable packaging and compound production lines without leaving this realistic vision trajectory, with a futuristic engineering approach that does not yield production failures in the system. Domeks has a maneuver to create practical and extraordinary solutions with an innovative technology perspective and inventive engineering approach that comprehends the genetic factors of the sector. The diaphragm of the global market breathes with production advantages that provide a competitive advantage. Domeks’ production lines add new energy to the system, and ensure a fit & effective production level.

ÖY: This year, we introduced three new machines- a spooler, a coiler and a compounder. All these machines are new and have different advantages. For the coiler, we are now able to reach the speed of 7-8 coils per minute for 100 meters length. We are not using any accumulator or dancer, which helps to prevent stretching on the cable during the coiling. We have further removed the stretching operation from our machines. It is also helpful for the environment. We are now reducing our use of plastic because some of the countries, especially in Europe, are trying to reduce plastic usage.

We are not using any stretch film for our new coiler, Rotation 240. We did major changes on our heating tunnel system because we were using stretch film to fix the cable end. But now, we have removed the stretch and changed our heater’s mechanism. Now we are able to catch this coiling till the end of the heater. Through this, we are also able to keep the coil in shape until the operation finishes. The patent for this mechanism is also pending right now.
In the second line, we have developed a spooler which has a capacity of working from 400 mm outer diameter up to 800 mm. This line is also able to work in both inline and offline operations and also together. We are using the stretching method and we can also add a fully automatic palletizer. So this is a fully automated line for cables starting from 5 mm and up to 20 mm diameter.

For the compounding section, we have developed a new model called Novus. We now have two different capacities – Novus 500 and Novus 1000. The biggest advantage of this model is that we can now work HFFR and PVC compounds on the same machine without any changes. On previous models, you need to change the screw design or screw modules, but with Novus, you don’t need to change anything. We have special conical design screws, the patent for which is pending right now.

On the same line, we can now work with HFFR and PVC and also with the same dosing system. It is possible to realize because with the old methods, when you wanted to work with HFFR, you needed to use side feeders with loss and weight systems or gravimetric systems. With our new model, you don’t need to use any side feeding. Novus has a single feeding point, which is a huge advantage and the raw material comes batch by batch. So you don’t need to do any gravimetric dosing or side feeding anything. It is very easy to use and that is the biggest advantage of the Novus model.

WCI: Kindly share information about your manufacturing facilities and the capabilities of Domeks Makine.

ÖY: In 2015, we shifted our facility to the Tekirdağ region, which is around 100 kilometers away from Istanbul, Turkey. The facility spans 20,000 sqm for the manufacturing assembly and testing units, along with the joining HDOplast. We are also a compound producer for the HDOplast site. Thus, year by year, we are looking forward to increasing our production capacities.

WCI: Please share information about your footprint in India.

ÖY: We forayed into the Indian market in 2006. At present, we have established considerable production lines and have more than 35 machines operating in the region. India has been quite a significant market for Domeks and we are always happy to work here. In the last 3-4 years, the Indian market has grown leaps and bounds for us. We have a lot of demand from the country. We are now working in the component section and also on coilers with shrink and boxing units. Our cooperation with the Indian market has been excellent and we are very happy with the results. We are quite excited about the growth opportunities here.

In our understanding, the Indian cable industry is growing significantly on a yearly basis. India is going to be the next manufacturing hub for the wire and cable industry. In the next few years, it is projected that the Indian players would be the prominent suppliers for the wire and cable industry globally. As a matter of fact, a few of our customers have penetrated the European and the US markets where the quality has been well accepted. Thus, there is a great scope for expansion in the wire and cable industry.

WCI: Please share future developments of Domeks.

ÖY: With Rotation 240, we are basically focussing on the production speed. We are developing other models and trying to increase the production speed, and make it continuous & non-stop. Nowadays, the cable production speed can reach up to 1100-1200 meters per minute. With our future projects, we are going to put our machines directly to the extruder lines, so that the cable production for single wires will be continuous and non-stop.

For the compounding section, we are very happy with our new model Novus. We believe that even one year in the Indian market will make a huge impact on the market because it is a very unique model. For the future, I think, we will be very strong with this model.

We are an R&D company having basic and different models, which are developed as per the requests of the customers. We are a very flexible company. Almost all our machines have their unique abilities and different functions. We can develop and do more research on the machines depending on customer requests.
