Leading automotive wiring harness manufacturer, Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems Inc. is set to establish the world’s largest factory for electric vehicle wiring harnesses in Egypt, with a USD 100 million investment and construction area of 150,000 square meters. The project is expected to start operations by the end of 2023 and will provide nearly 10,000 job opportunities.

Japanese company Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems Inc. has signed an initial agreement with Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, to establish the world’s largest factory for electric vehicle wiring harnesses in Egypt. The factory will be set up in a free zone in the 10th of Ramadan city, on an area of 150,000 square meters. The project involves investments of about USD 100 million for exporting the products to global car manufacturers in Europe and the Middle East.

Sumitomo Egypt’s Managing Director, Mr. Ahmed Magdy shared that the project is expected to start operations by the end of 2023 and will provide nearly 10,000 job opportunities. Sumitomo already has eight production sites in Egypt and it exports its products to international car manufacturers in Europe and the Middle East.
