For the Dhaulasidh Hydro Electric Project, KEC International will be responsible for developing a 220 kV power transmission line to evacuate power for the HPPTCL network.

KEC International Ltd. has entered into a contract with Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam, better known as SJVN Ltd., for the development of a power transmission line for the Dhaulasidh Hydro Electric Project (Dhaulasidh HEP). As per the news reports, it will be a 220 kV D/C single zebra, transmission line from 66 MW Dhaulasidh HEP (Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh) switchyard to 220 kV Himachal Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. (HPPTCL) network in Sujanpur, Himachal Pradesh.
Mr. Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN, informed that the works amounting to INR 47.40 crore included end-to-end delivery of the commissioned transmission line by February 2024. The contract signing ceremony took place in the presence of Mr. Sushil Sharma, Director (Electrical) and Mr. Salil Shamshery Executive Director (Electrical Contracts), SJVN, and Mr. Anil Kalia, Chief Manager (Sales & Tendering), KEC International. Moreover, a few other senior officials from both organisations were also present.

Mr. Nand Land Sharma stated that the upcoming power transmission line will enable SJVN to transmit power generated from 66 MW DSHEP into the HPPTCL network. In fact, the Dhaulasidh project has been planned so as to generate 304 MUs of energy per annum. He also asserted that this project is yet another milestone toward strengthening the diversified portfolio of SJVN and showing its commitment to empowering the nation.

At present, SJVN has a total portfolio of around 31,500 MW and has diversified and ventured into power transmission as well as power trading. Now, the recent project wins are further cementing for achieving SJVN’s shared vision of 5000 MW by 2023, 25000 MW by 2030, and 50000 MW installed capacity by 2040.
