STL Academy training program will happen in over 40 cities across the country and the target is to complete it in 180 days. Post training, CSC will provide employment or self-employed support to all VLEs at the panchayat level.

In a move to create more highly-skilled fiber deployment specialists in rural India, Sterlite Technologies and Common Services Centres (CSC) Academy have signed an MoU to train Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) in optical fiber networking.
“The current requirement of Indian telecom sector is to have a strong optical fiber backbone to carry large amount of data. To meet these needs we need skilled workforce that can manage end-to-end optical fiber network” said Anjali Byce, Chief Human Resource Officer, STL.
According to the media reports, the STL Academy is said to create an ecosystem of highly skilled professionals for deploying and maintaining complex optical fibre networks. Under the MoU, STL Academy will conduct certified training program for VLEs registered with CSC and will train 1,00,000 VLEs across gram panchayats.
“We are delighted to partner with STL to skill rural masses in India. Together, we are promoting entrepreneurship by fostering the capability and development of the VLEs under the Common Services Centre scheme,” said Dinesh Tyagi, CEO, CSC.
With BharatNet Phase 2 in advanced stages of completion, which means that as much as 1.25 lakh gram panchayats will be connected to internet, many companies are running several awareness campaigns as well as eyeing the business opportunities in these places.
