Lapp India considers textile machinery and accessories manufacturers as large scale consumers of wires and cables. Through participating in International Textile Machinery & Accessories Exhibition (ITMACH) 2017, the company expects to create a lasting market in this key segment.

Lapp India is a subsidiary of the LAPP GROUP Germany, a leading supplier of integrated solutions and branded products in the field of cable and connection technology. Lapp started operations in India in 1996 by setting up a state-of-the-art manufacturing unit at Jigani, Bangalore. In 2012, Lapp India set up its second manufacturing unit at Pilukedi, Bhopal to primarily produce single core cables catering to the Building segment. The company is going to participate and showcase its cabling products and solutions in International Textile Machinery & Accessories Exhibition (ITMACH) where it sees enormous opportunity to strengthen its position in this booming business.
WCI recently interviewed Mr. Marc Jarrault, Managing Director, Lapp Group India Pvt. Ltd, where he shared the purpose of exhibiting in ITMACH’17 along with the future expansion plans of the company.
Wire & Cable India: We have heard that Lapp Group India is participating in the 2nd International Textile Machinery & Accessories Exhibition (ITMACH) 2017. Following that, can you give a brief introduction of the exhibition to our readers? Also, tell us the idea of exhibiting in this fair.
Marc Jarrault: International Textile Machinery & Accessories Exhibition (ITMACH) aims to create conducive business environment, produce new business ideas, generate opportunities for textile machinery as well as textile and apparel industry, globally. It is the marketplace to interact with potential new and existing investors from India and neighboring countries.
The textile industry is a key segment of ‘Lapp Group India’. As India is the second largest textile manufacturing nation in the world and the second largest market for textile machinery and technology, we intend to exhibit in this fair. Lapp foresees an enormous opportunity to strengthen its position in this booming business. WCI: Tell us about the wide range of products that LAPP intends to showcase in the exhibition. Is there any new product for the visitors that you are going to introduce in the fair? Which product will be the main highlight of your stall?
MJ: Lapp is synonymous with innovation, and we believe in developing innovative cabling products and solutions that help and assist our customers. For the textile industry, we offer tried and tested products and customized solutions used in various stages of textile processes like spinning, weaving, knitting, fabric, and garments processing. Lapp products are designed for critical applications like continuous motion, high temperature, chemical and other harsh environments. Lapp cables are slim and light in its construction, making it more flexible. It can even withstand high temperatures. Our products are chemical/oil resistant and weatherproof with great mechanical strength.
At ITMACH’17, we are showcasing our tried and tested products and customized cabling solutions, such as OLFLEX® CONNECT. OLFLEX® CONNECT is our customized plug ‘n’ play solution, which ranges from the simple cable assemblies to industry standard servo connections and right up to sophisticated high-speed drag-chain systems to help meet exact customer requirements. OLFLEX® CLASSIC 110 cables are our other solution. These are screened PVC control cables with a transparent outer sheet, designed to be flame retardant and all weather resistant. WCI: Did you participate in the first exhibition as well? If yes, how was the response from the visitors? Besides, which factors influenced you to participate in the second edition of ITMACH?
MJ: We are participating in the exhibition for the first time. We understand that International Textile Machinery & Accessories Exhibition (ITMACH) is one of the largest exhibitions aimed towards the textile Industry. The location also adds on to the factor as Gujarat is a wide market when it comes to textile manufacturing hub.Thus, this platform is an ideal opportunity for us to reach out to a large number of textile machine manufacturers.
WCI: Share with us the development or expansion plan that LAPP Group India has in the pipeline.
MJ: Lapp Group India began its operations in India in 1996 with a manufacturing unit in Jigani, Bangalore. Having made an investment of EUR 2.1 million, the Bangalore unit is the second largest manufacturing unit of the Lapp Group. Till date, Lapp Group India has provided about 150,000 km per year of control, instrumentation, power and data cables along with connectors, accessories and customized plug and play cable assembly solutions to over 5500 active customers all over India. Looking at the potential of the Indian market, Lapp Group India started its second plant in Pilukedi, Bhopal in addition to five service points and five warehouses. This unit strengthens the company’s base in the single core wires segment as well as caters efficiently to the growing demand in India.
