Strong foundations help in building strong and unwavering successes. KENTER – Wires and Cables might have started as a single manufacturing unit in Mumbai, Maharashtra, but today it competes with leading players in the market to contribute to government projects and companies. On the final leg of Elecrama 2023, Wire & Cable India was fortunate to sit with Mr. Mukesh Vora, Co-Founder of KENTER, and explore with him how Ketan Enterprises of 1985 made it to become KENTER – Wires and Cables of 2023. In his words, we saw an unwavering commitment to the original motto of the company, quality products at economical prices.
“Our market footprint could be assumed on the basis of our revenue targets for FY23 which is over INR 200 crores.”
Wire & Cable India: Please introduce us to your company and its major milestones.
Mukesh Vora: KENTER – Wires and Cables was established in 1993 in Kurla, Mumbai as a manufacturing unit of control cables. We started as a manufacturing unit of copper armored cables. Today we have an experience of over 30 years and successfully operate two manufacturing units at Bhiwandi (2010) and Vadodara (2020). We have a total of 12 machines for aluminum drawing and we have scaled up our product portfolio in the last 15 years to include various wires and cable solutions for different sectors. Ours is a family business, and currently, our second generation is steering the business operations. We are an ISO 9001:2015 and CE-certified company. We have a high-performing team including management, administrators, electrical engineers, technicians and skilled workers, quality analysts, research associates, and sales and marketing professionals.

WCI: Please elaborate on your company’s product portfolio and your USP.
MV: Our major focus is in the LT power cables market and our product ranges include house wires, multicore flexible cables, conductors, LT aerial bunched cables, instrumentation cables, solar cables, fire survival cables, co-axial cables, LAN cables, telephone cables, and thermocouple extension and compensating cables. Our USP is that we manufacture quality and eco-friendly products at a competitive price. Our team is dedicated to continuously innovating, improving, and coordinating for better results and services. We have one of the best lead times in the industry.
WCI: Can you enlighten us about the current market trends and your company’s market share?
MV: If I were to define the current market in a single attribute, I would call it competitive. The market is in a growth phase and new entrants are pouring in, while at the same time, the volatility is causing many to drop out as well. The simple reason is that while the competition is becoming cut-throat, the quality is not being compromised. There is still a lot of scope for exploration in both domestic and international markets, allowing everyone a chance to make a considerable profit as long as they deliver well.
Rehashing my previous statement, we are a company with a market experience of 30+ years. This is a period during which we have consistently worked to improve our products and quality. We have employed state-of-the-art technology to give better products to our customers and that too at an economical price. These efforts go a long way in providing our company with a solid foundation to weather the market volatility and competition.
WCI: Please tell us about your major clientele and market footprint.
MV: Our clientele ranges from government agencies to private corporations and public companies. We have aided many reputed clients during our journey of 30 years. The thing we are most proud of is the repetition of orders from our clients. We have developed trust among our customers for them to return to us for further services. Some of our clients include names like Godrej, Capgemini, Courtyard by Marriott, Infosys, Hindustan Petroleum, NTPC, MMRDA, L&T, Reliance, MAHA Vitaran, and BARC among others.
Our market footprint could be assumed on the basis of our revenue targets for FY23 which is over INR 200 crores. We have also been contracted to contribute to Nagpur Smart City, SamruddhiMahamarg project.
WCI: Could you share your company’s R&D initiatives, recent developments, expansions, or product launches done by your company?
MV: We have an in-house R&D team and we get all our developments tested at a third-party facility. While we have already diversified our LT cable ranges and plan to enter the manufacturing of HT cables up to 33 kV. We recently, six months ago, included conductors in our product range. We are also planning to broaden our international customer base and have been working to get ROHS-compliance certification.
As mentioned earlier, our company’s motto is to provide quality products at economical pricing and that is in adherence with all our developments and launches.

WCI: Please express your views on Elecrama 2023, and what are you showcasing this year.
MV: Elecrama 2023 as a platform is a huge success and an extremely important initiative. The scale at which the exhibit operates is evidence enough for its global and domestic importance. It has been my observation that this year government-industrial cooperation takes the central stage along with business and networking opportunities. The industry is united to contribute towards the government’s initiative of increasing renewable and power capacity while reducing transmission and storage losses.
KENTER-Wires and Cables is showcasing its product range, innovation, and promise of good quality products at economic pricing. These aspects are an important measure for us as the industry is directed by IS standards. All companies have to make products in compliance with the standards, yet the finished quality and value addition act as a point of differentiation. Our products are not only compliant, but we have used the best raw material available in the market to build them, we have used automated processes to manufacture them, and we have ensured economic processes for a market-competitive price of the finished product.

WCI: What are the CSR initiatives that your company has undertaken?
MV: Our CSR is rooted in our origin. We belong to one of the most socially and dutifully inclined communities, the Jains. Hence, even though our company does not fall under SEBI’s CSR compliance criteria, we initiate the practices voluntarily. We are involved with Jeevdaya initiatives, which translates to the adoption of monetary expenditure for cattle rearing and maintenance. We also donate to various independent government and social causes.
