“Continuous investments in R&D and comprehensive customer service go hand in hand with the premium quality of our machinery.”
Rosendahl Nextrom is a global leader in wire & cable and optical fibre production technologies with quality, customisation, product knowhow, and close cooperation with its partners as its core values. The expertise of the company ranges from extrusion to corrugation and SZ-stranding. Its technical knowledge is reflected in a wide range of high-tech wire and cable manufacturing systems. Besides designing, manufacturing, and assembling its solutions, Rosendahl Nextrom also provides software systems, installation and commissioning as well as staff training and maintenance. In an interview with Wire & Cable India, Mr. René Stöckl, Sales Director at Rosendahl Nextrom GmbH, presents a brief rundown of the company, new technologies, impact of industry 4.0, and future plans.
Wire & Cable India: As Rosendahl Nextrom has completed six decades in the business and growing, what do you think are the factors which have shaped the company’s consistent growth in the industry? What have the highlights been so far?
René Stöckl: Stable management and a clear company strategy have been the key factors for our consistent growth throughout the years. In addition, continuous investments in R&D and comprehensive customer service go hand in hand with the premium quality of our machinery. What has always been our strength is the close partnership we maintain with our customers. We deliver what we promise, and we are a reliable partner throughout the whole lifetime of our machines and components. It is always a highlight for us when we learn that machines of ours, 30 years or older, are still up and running. That is the ultimate proof of quality for us.
WCI: Kindly talk about the core capabilities of the company in the wire & cable production system industry.
RS: Our core competencies include manufacturing solutions for extrusion, SZ-stranding, optical fibre, and corrugation. From the first contact onwards, we provide customised, high-quality solutions and personal support. Every piece of machinery is 100 percent tailor-made in Europe according to our customers’ requirements.
WCI: How do you think industry 4.0 like smart automation, IoT, and intelligent manufacturing have impacted the wire & cable industry in innovation and achieving efficiency?
RS: Industry 4.0 has strongly impacted our industry and opened vast opportunities for the continuous improvement of both machines and processes. Predictive and preventive maintenance and the enhanced possibilities of remote support save a lot of time. Problems can be detected fast, sometimes even before they happen. Energy efficiency can be increased. Higher production speeds and lower scrap rates are achievable. The list goes on… It’s exciting and I’m looking forward to seeing what else will be possible in the future.

WCI: Could you please elaborate on the new technologies you have introduced in the recent past at the company?
RS: Over recent years, we have been working hard on developing solutions for a greener and more efficient industry. We have introduced the Rosendahl Superior Extrusion Technology (RoSET) – more sustainable production technology for MV power cables centred on polypropylene-based compounds. Achieving the same performance and high standards can reduce CO2 emissions and lead time during production.
Our new metal-forming, welding, and corrugating line, called RH-W, helps producers to make cables more sustainable by eliminating lead from their production processes.
At the same time, we have further developed RIO, our smart and powerful line control, to optimise every step of the production process.
WCI: What are your key objectives for participating in Cable & Wire Fair 2022?
RS: We are especially looking forward to meeting customers in person and to catching up with longstanding partners. Nothing helps to understand the requirements of our customers and the market like in-depth, face-to-face conversations.

WCI: Are there any plans for capacity expansion or has there been any recent expansion that you would like to talk about? What are your goals for the future going forward?
RS: To process orders faster and more efficiently, we have recently expanded our warehouse in Austria. We have installed automated vertical storage systems and made our halls future-proof and flexible. We have also expanded the capacities at our production site in Romania.

It is our goal to constantly improve and develop as a company. There are some exciting things we are currently working on, but it is too early to give details.
