France-headquartered Nexans won a EUR 6 million (~USD 6.32 million) contract to supply ERG, Italy’s leading company in the wind power sector, with a complete range of cables, accessories, and engineering services. The agreement is for repowering four onshore wind farms in Sicily (143 MW).
The wind farms have the capacity to produce 330 GWh per year, which means power consumption of 100,000 houses and saving of 166,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year. The recent contract represents the longstanding relationship between the two companies as they contribute to developing wind energy projects across Italy.

In the project, Nexans will provide more than 400 km of directly buried shockproof MV cables with 33 kV accessories, which improve the project’s Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and reduce environmental impact. Moreover, the French cable manufacturer will also provide engineering services to optimise the farm’s collector design and connection to the grid.
Nexans’ ULTRACKER services will be implemented during this project for the first time in Italy. This digital solution will enable ERG to visualise in real-time cable deliveries and drum location on-site, in addition to monitoring the farm installation progress.
In fact, the company is ERG’s long-term partner in the Italian wind power sector in the context of Italy’s government-supported National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
Mr. Giovanni Fenoglio, CEO & Sales Director, Nexans Italia, says, “Nexans’ advanced cable solutions, accessories, and services provide our customers with transparent and smooth cable installation. Not only does this help put customers’ minds at ease, it’s also another example of our cutting-edge technology and ongoing commitment to R&D. ERG is a leading business in the Italian wind power sector and our ongoing partnership with them is just another step in Nexans’ journey to contribute to the energy transition and sustainable electrification in Italy.”
