In this order, HFCL will set up the telecommunication systems for 32.4 km of Kanpur Metro and 14 km of Agra Metro projects

Telecom equipment major HFCL (Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd.) has won an Rs. 221 crore order from the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation for setting up telecommunication systems for the Kanpur and Agra metro projects. As per the order details, HFCL will set up the telecommunication systems for 32.4 km (corridors one and two) of Kanpur Metro and 14 km (corridor one) of Agra Metro projects. The telecommunication system work for the metro projects will be completed in the next 33 months.
Part of the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, the Agra Metro network will connect key tourist attractions such as – Agra Fort, Taj Mahal, Sikandra with the city’s other main modes of transport such as the railway station and bus stands. The construction of the Agra Metro project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2020.

Before the recent order, HFCL was involved in executing the telecommunication networks for rail projects with Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited for eastern as well as western dedicated freight corridors. The company also provided telecommunication infrastructure for international metro rail projects in neighboring countries such as Bangladesh and Mauritius.
